I am an experienced Technical Team leader that has lead developments on a variety of platforms and environments, leading teams varying in size from 3 to 12. I have several years of experience in applications development, support and delivery and have experience throughout the full project lifecycle. After a number of years working in the mainframe environment working on batch systems and SQL databases I have since moved into web based applications. For the last few years I have been delivering applications and documents via corporate intranets. At my most recent employer, Telent Technology Ltd, I personally project managed the new development of a number of applications:

  1. Change Control and Tracking - this application was designed by myself from the ground up. The application had an SQL Server 2000 database, a VB front-end for power users and an intranet based XHTML/ASP Classic thin client for 500+ distributed users. My role in this covered not only the design and project management tasks but I also took on all of the XHTML/CSS and ASP work myself.
  2. Content Management System: My team was responsible for a number of company wide applications and my original role was as Technical Author to deliver application support documentation, including User Guides, Training Material and Compiled Help pages. The CMS application that we delivered was to allow us to deliver revisions of these documents in a timely manner. Again this application followed the same environment and development model as the (1) CCT application described above.
  3. Test Management System. As with the above two applications; this was designed to hold and maintain test scripts, plans and results.

Initially I was hired by Telent Technology Ltd to devise training and support documentation for their in-house systems. My first task was to provide a User Guide for their mainstay maintenance support application which had a user base of about 300-400 people with a high turn-over of staff in some particular areas. As the entire format of the documentation was left to me I felt that the best way of providing a User Guide that could be referred to as required rather than just leafed through to be discarded was to make this an interactive online document. Consequently I devised a DHTML document that had the look and feel of the application that the users were working on but none of the functionality. My other roles included a lot of creation of SQL Stored Procedures and views, and first line support of the various database applications (user maintenance and data maintenance. I was also responsible for the test management of all our applications above and beyond those already mentioned.

Prior to Telent Technology I had been Direct Banking Support Team Leader at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh during 2001 and at Marks and Spencer I had been Customer Marketing (Direct Mail) Database Team Leader (Contract) April 1997 to end of 1999.
