Welcome to my Family Tree pages

When looking through some genealogy thread a while ago I saw the following quotation:

Whoever said "Seek and ye shall find" was not a genealogist

and I for one can certainly feel for that

This site and study is in no sense complete, nor is there any sense of nearing completion of the research.

What Will I find here?

About The Gaylard Name

  • My Personal Ancestry
  • Here you will find the details of all my ancestors going back to a total of eight generations. This is just my direct line of ancestry. If you want to find out about all of the Gaylard's from this my original ancestors, Thomas Gaylard and Sarah Gorton, then you will need to go the Gaylard Family pages and work your way down!
  • About The Name
  • In this section I present to you what I have found of the origins of the Gaylard name in the United Kingdom
  • Huguenot Background is a very brief outline of who and what the Huguenots were and I explain why I think that the Gaylards are not of Huguenot origins
  • Heraldry . There are those that are into this sort of thing, but I am not one of them! However, here is the oft depicted Coat of Arms for the Gaylard family. In my research I have not found one single aristrocratic ancestor so this may be all nonsense of course.
  • The Family Branches
  • For each family (eventually) you will find two sets of pages
    • Details pages which give a full account as is known of each person, and where possible any documents and photographs
    • Charts these show 3-4 generations depending on the number of family members. From these pages you should be able to move up and down successive charts to traverse the entire tree. The full tree is too large to show on one chart
  • The Gaylard Family is my paternal family
  • The Kennedy Family is my maternal family tree
  • The Wraight Family is my paternal grnadmothers family
  • The Warren Family is my maternal grandmothers family tree
