About El Golfo and Charco de los Clicos
El Golfo is a town in the municipality of Yaiza in the south of the island of Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain).
It owes its name to being located near the small bay also known as the Gulf. This is the interior of the large crater open to the sea that houses the Charco Verde or Charco de Los Clicos, which was formed by the outcropping of seawater on the surface.
A former fishing settlement, it has now become an important tourist spot due to being next to Charco Verde, often called simply El Golfo.
El Golfo is located on the edge of the Los Volcanes Natural Park, a volcanic landscape caused by the eruptions of 1824 and that surrounds the Timanfaya National Park.
