About Plane Spotting at Gatwick Aviation Museum

The Gatwick Aviation Museum has a viewing area at the end of its fields where you can get a limited view into the activity on the tarmac. There is nowhere else around, other than the airport multi-story car parks that gives you such a view.

The area is a covered trailer with some degree of cover and garden furniture seating. So you can get a bit of cover from the rain, but you do have a 3 to 4 minute walk across an open field to reach it. To be honest, if you want to see the aircraft in the air, you can get a very good view from the concrete areas of the museum if you need to stay dry or have any mobility issues.

Because of the local prevailing winds, the aircraft almost always take-off from this end of the runway, so landings are harder to view.
