About Piazza Barberini
Piazza Barberini is a significant and bustling square in Rome, located between the Quirinal Hill and the Via Veneto.
Fontana del Tritone: At the center of the square, you'll find the Fontana del Tritone (Triton Fountain), a stunning baroque fountain designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1643. The fountain depicts Triton, a sea god, blowing a conch shell.
Fontana delle Api: Another smaller but charming fountain by Bernini, the Fountain of the Bees, is located at the corner of the square.
The square is named after the Barberini family, and the nearby Palazzo Barberini houses the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, featuring masterpieces by Caravaggio, Raphael, and other renowned artists.
Piazza Barberini is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and shops, making it a lively and popular spot for both locals and tourists.
Barberini Metro Station is located on Line A of the Rome Metro, between Spagna and Repubblica stations1. It's situated under Piazza Barberini, near the famous Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain). The station was inaugurated in 1980 and has mosaics in the entrance hall as part of the Rome Artemetro Prize2.
